A systematic review of peer support interventions for breastfeeding.

In a nutshell: A systematic review looking at peer support interventions supporting breastfeeding during pregnancy and the postnatal period. This review found that continuous breastfeeding support produced the most effective results and that diverse types of interventions are needed during different phases of motherhood. In addition, it was found that a combination of professional support and peer support by trained and experienced peer supporters was effective in ensuring the continuation of breastfeeding.
